Amazon Mom, Jasper Lilly Frames | Walnut Creek Photographer

As I sit here on my computer typing this blog post – I hear a little munchkin walk out of her room. I hear her walk oh so quietly down the stairs and creep to the back of the couch so I can’t see her. This adorable little girl jumps up and yells “SURPRISE! Happy birthday momma!!!!” Best birthday surprise ever. The silver lining of being older is having babies who can make you feel soooo special.

So today is the day. I turn another year old – the rip old age of 27. Poor me right? Don’t feel to bad for me (like you were planning too hehe). I am just getting to the point in my life where I remember when I thought my current age was ancient. Ha!

I thought that today I would post about a few things I highly enjoy in my life – well other than my kids and my hubby. They are always number one, that is just a given. This post is more about the things I enjoy in my life right now. The first one being Amazon Mom!

I highly recommend checking out Amazon Mom if you are a mom. I tell (or try to) most of my clients about it because I am obsessed with online shopping now that I have three small children. I mean why would I want to lug three small kids into a store?! I mean really now! Amazon mom is FREE. No that is NOT a typo. It is free. You get amazing discounts like free two day air all on their “prime” items, and 20% discounts on diapers and other must have things for babies. Click on amazon mom – it is linked to their sign up page and FAQs. Their really is no reason to not sign up.

Jasper Lilly frames is my new favorite thing – well it has been a favorite for awhile, but I am now revisiting that love of mine. They are handmade, hand cut, and hand painted (!) custom frames. They are TO DIE FOR. My samples are being order today in 16×20 and I am just praying I have the will power to not hang them in my house!:)These babies are amazing!!!!

And my last favorite thing is the canvas I just received from my print lab. Love it! I will be posting a blog on how to measure and layout a wall design for your home. Since I am doing it for my home I figured I could give a few tips on how I do it.:)

A Precious Newborn | Danville Newborn Photographer

I could never get sick of photographing newborn. Ever. Something about their newness and innocents that just lures me in and holds me tight. I am obsessed with them, and the most shocking part is that I am always taken back by how tiny a newborn really is. Ha! You would think after seeing as many newborns as I have, or having three in the past four years myself – that I would just know how small they would be. Nope! It stills astonishes me how we were all so little and angelic – and how quickly it comes and then leaves us as parents.

I have know Lindsey for a long time. She is a dear friend to my old sister. Lindsey was gifted her newborn session at her baby shower. A gift that capture those first few days so she can truly remember the itty-bittiness that was your baby.

Riley was born at the end of October, and her lips are sweeter than sugar. Her eyes are beyond gorgeous and I do have to admit wonder if she would fit in my purse so I could take her home. She was a tiny newborn, and though she probably would have fit – something told me her mommy would notice she was missing.;)

Some of my favorite images are the real life ones. Like the one of Lindsey burping baby Riley. It is the true moments that we want to cherish and remember. We all love those squishy, sleepy newborn poses with a head band and of course, a newborn in a tractor. But sometimes the photos that parents value most are the ones that aren’t posed or created by awesome blankets and cute props. Sometimes it is just the pure trueness of life that moves parents most. It is surprising to a lot of parents how much they didn’t think they wanted to be in photos – “I just had a baby” “The weight isn’t off yet” “I am so sleep deprived”. But if I can convince the parents to take the picture, I find that 99% of them love those the most. It moves them to tears and they will forever cherish those pictures. So ladies prep yourself and your husband now, get them ready to be in the pictures. You will never regret a picture you did take, it is the ones you didn’t that you may kick yourself for!

All the headbands and wraps were made my Studio412 Boutique. Click on Studio412 Boutique to go to her shop – she has adorable hats, headbands, blankets, etc. Love all her stuff!

Baby Kole | Newborn Photographer

This past November newborn baby Kole arrived. He was sooooooooo good at his newborn photography session. His big brother Kaden was an angel too. He was completely invested in the Shark Boy and Lava Girl movie. Love that movie!;)Little baby Kole turned this family of four, into a family of five. You can tell that Kole is the third baby; he just so naturally bends into the family – like he has been there all long. His big sister loves him to pieces, and carries him around like a little doll. Which I think is perfect since he really is like a doll. So tiny and calm.

Check out the session:

I think my heart melted the second I capture that newborn in a tractor picture. Sooooo precious. If any of you photographers out there are going to try a pose like that, please make sure the baby is very sleep and not stirring at all. Also make sure mom or an assistant is right next to the newborn, and if need be, have someone hold the baby in place. It is better to merge two photos together to remove parents or assistant’s hands then to put the newborn’s safety at risk. Nothing is worth the safety of a newborn. All my past clients know I am a little crazy about that.;)The good kind of crazy – I swear! Oh and the tractor was purchased at Costco, if anyone was wondering!

Kole’s 3 month session is coming up at the beginning of February and it is a good thing because I am missing him so much and I hear he is missing me too. I love being able to follow my newborns their first year of life. The first year goes so fast and I swear they wake up from their multiple naps a day and look bigger. If you are interested in my Baby’s First Year Plans, please check out my rates and packages and then contact me for more details. This is a great way to save money while not missing any of the important milestones!

Boudoir Photographer | Bay Area Boudoir Photographer

I have been recently getting a few inquiries about boudoir photography sessions. A lot of people ask do I do them? The answer is YES and they are one of my favorites! I don’t post many (if any photos) from them for a few reasons. The biggest one being a boudoir session is very private. These are photos that are meant for that special someone and not for me and my business. I respect that – I really do. I want you to be comfortable using me and knowing that my first concern is that you are comfortable. I also know a lot of woman do a boudoir session as a wedding gift, so I don’t want to ruin the surprise.

I can imagine that it could be an uncomfortable thing to think about booking something like this with someone you are just meeting for the first time. That is why I have my boudoir sessions set up in a way that it is all about you being comfortable with me, with the theme of your boudoir session, with the location, and most importantly in front of my camera!

Most of our boudoir sessions take place at a hotel or a vacant family member’s house that we can use for an hour or so. I encourage a little bubbly – who doesn’t love a good mimosa?! (I mean really now!) Along with some great music and a positive attitude – and you are all set for an amazing boudoir session and final product!

I have attached one photo from a past session that was okayed by a past client. I have more to show in a private password protected gallery should you be interested in booking a session and seeing my work. Hit the contact button above to email me about a possible boudoir photography session.

I’m wondering how much a session is and what it includes (prints, retouching, dvd, etc.)?

Hi Allison – I emailed you my packages for my boudoir photography. Thank you for your interest. :) Hope to hear from you soon! Amanda

Brentwood Maternity Photographer | A Beautiful Then Mama to Be

As with all the sessions lately, I am posting this as yet another catch up session. Amy has had her baby girl and she is about 2ish months old (if I remember correctly). But I just have to share – no matter how late to the game I am – her amazing maternity session we did in Brentwood and Discovery Bay. Amy and Dennis were down to get creative at their session. Amy called me a few nights before her session and asked if they could do a few fun and different ones. OF COURSE – one of the best parts of custom photography is being able to plan your session with the photographer! She got a ton of props and cute ideas to make their session something that made it about them, and something to remember. They were cherishing those last few months of before their baby girl came.

As for Amy – she was beautiful. I want to be able to do hair like her, she is a hair stylist in Livermore and she showed up ready to rock my camera in like 100 degree weather. Some of clients are tougher than me, she was one of them! If I was pregnant and doing a maternity session in that heat I would have been whining the entire session. Amy didn’t… at all – she truly couldn’t stop smiling. Her smile infected Dennis to smile. He adores her every being – I could truly feel his love for her. I love seeing parents-to-be as in love and as excited as Amy and Dennis were. And as for Amy’s perfectly smooth and round and TAN belly – that was all her. I didn’t photoshop any of that to perfection, she did that all on her own. If she wasn’t so awesome I would have hated – lol! Oh and her beyond gorg orange shirt – it’s from INC. Who doesn’t love INC?!

Amy had this awesome idea to sport their favorite baseball team’s jersey. She is a Giant fan (holla!) and he is an A’s fan, those pictures are so adorable. Some of my all favorite pictures. I have always wanted to go to the orchards off of Sellers Ave. in Brentwood and take a maternity picture with sunflowers. I got it from this session. The light was SOOOOOOO amazing in those photos. I just love them, all of them!
